OUR HOME IN DOWNTOWN
K Brew’s third coffee shop is in the heart of Downtown Knoxville, on the corner of Gay St. and Union Ave. In late 2019, Kana Hotel Group completed its renovation of the former Regions bank building, turning it into a modern, chic Hilton hotel. They wanted a top-notch coffee shop included in their lobby, and they turned to us for the solution. We set up and started pouring lattes in November 2019, quickly building a loyal following of Downtown Knoxville’s workers and residents.
Our coffee shop anchors the entrance to the Hilton’s sprawling lobby, which has become one of the must-see indoor architectural sights in Downtown Knoxville. The Hilton’s lobby features the original, 30ft ceilings, a Top Golf simulator, Knox Mason restaurant, Wake Day Spa, and Ham ‘N Goody’s lunch cafe. The stunning central chandelier combined with a small waterfall adds the perfect ambiance to sip your cappuccino.
While the coffee shop itself is smaller than our other stores, we still offer our full menu and have over 30 comfortable seats and tables spread throughout the lobby. Whether you’re staying at the hotel or not, you’re invited to relax and enjoy a cup of K Brew’s coffee in the inspiring space.
While you’re in Downtown Knoxville, you can’t miss exploring all that it has to offer! For a tour, we recommend starting in Market Square, where you can walk in Charles Krutch Park, full of art pieces and a gentle brook. Grab some lunch at Cafe 4 or Tomato Head, and then walk down Gay Street, one of Knoxville’s oldest roads, lined by historical buildings with stunning architecture. Make a stop at Cruze Farm Ice Cream (also the milk we use in all of our drinks at K Brew), then make the half-mile walk to World’s Fair Park, home of the 1982 World’s Fair. We recommend pulling up some of the photos of the fair on your phone to compare to the modern site – time has changed much of the park, but many original elements are there. If the weather is nice, soak up some rays on the Great Lawn, next to the fountain circle that shoots water 20ft into the air. On the off-chance you don’t notice the golden ball in the sky, take a look up and see the Sunsphere, undoubtedly Knoxville’s most iconic piece of architecture. If the observation deck is open, you can take the elevator at the base of the Sunsphere and travel to the top, where you’ll experience some of the most impressive views of the Smokies and Knoxville!
Downtown Knoxville has undergone a transformation in the last 20 years. In the early 2000s, the downtown area had few restaurants, residents, and attractions. Through the efforts of many committed citizens, donors, and the local government, downtown Knoxville’s revitalization began to take shape. One of the earliest efforts was a summer music concert series called Sundown in the City; musicians, many nationally known, would come every Thursday and play on Market Square’s main stage. Though Sundown only lasted a few years, it was one of the first in a long line of developments that led to the downtown Knoxville we know and love today. These days, the entire scene has changed from just a few years ago. Now, the heart of the city is filled with coffee shops, restaurants, breweries, art and clothing shops, and many annual festivals year-round. We couldn’t be prouder to have a coffee shop in the heart of Knoxville. If you love your visit, consider leaving us a five-star Google review – it really helps K Brew thrive!
