Fred D. Brown Jr. Hall sits on Andy Holt Avenue on the west side of the University of Tennessee campus, and it is home to over 680 students. That makes it one of the largest residence halls on campus. It’s also home to the second K Brew Express that we opened on campus. An inviting courtyard leads to the main entrance and doubles as an outdoor study space when the weather cooperates. Inside there is a post office, a workout facility, a recreation room, laundry, and a lounge on every floor. First year and returning students live side by side in suite style rooms, so the energy in the lobby changes completely depending on the hour. Early mornings are quiet and focused. Evenings during midterms are something else entirely.

We opened K Brew Express at Fred Brown in August 2024, seven months after our first campus store opened in the Haslam College of Business. Serving a residence hall is different from serving a business school, and we love it for that reason. Students here are not just passing through between classes; they live upstairs. We see the same faces most mornings, we learn the orders, and we get to be part of somebody’s daily routine during a formative few years of their life. The Express menu is built for that: craft coffee, espresso drinks, cold brew, and our New York style bagels, prepared quickly without cutting corners on quality. Same beans we roast for every K Brew, same recipes, same great hospitality. We accept Vol Card, Dining Dollars, and Flex, so your meal plan covers your coffee run without a second thought. Whether you are grabbing a large drip on the way to an 8 a.m. or settling into the lobby with a laptop and a bagel at 10 p.m., we are glad you came down.
